Global battery investment to grow by 8,000% by 2050
Currently the world is spending about $6.7 billion per year on batteries for general electricity storage. This report expects that to grow to $548 billion by 2050, on an installed battery capacity of 1.3 TW by that time. But current global electricity generation is about 7 TW, and would probably double by 2050, so that would only mean 10% of electricity production is backed up with batteries.
